COLLEGE ENGLISH DEPARTMENTS

  The School of Foreign Languages (SFL)has set up three College English Departments and one Marine English Teaching and Research Department for Navigation Institute, undertaking the teaching of College English for post-graduates and undergraduates in other departments of the University. The College English Departments have a faculty staff of 87 full-time teachers: 26 professors and associate professors and 49 doctor’s or master’s degree holders.

  Guided by three school of thoughts of being constructive, human-orientated, and students centered in cultivating talents and in running the University since 2006, the College English Teaching Departments have been committed to the reform of College English Teaching Model following the College English Curriculum Requirements issued by the Ministry of Education. The English College Departments have made remarkable achievements in the reform of teaching ideology, pedagogical methodology and methods(,); the Departments have optimized a teaching environment by making full use of multimedia and web technology as important aids in teaching, and elevated the teaching quality of College English teachers (in an all-round way) to a higher level and into an all-around personality.
