Specialty Features: The BTI (Bachelor of Translation and Interpretation)programme was started in 2015 on the basis of the English language programme, and began to recruit students from the whole country in September of the same year. Since running the programme, it has trained a large number of excellent translators or interpreters for Fujian and even the whole country.

The BTI closely follows the outline of the Ministry of Education and highlights the practical characteristics, and teachers and students actively participate in translation/interpretation practice. Teachers and students of the BTI have long been responsible for interpretation and translation work in major economic, cultural and educational fields at provincial and municipal levels, departments and units, as well as accompanying interpretation work for visiting delegations. Every year a lot of teachers and students group take part in Xiamen city or Fujian province foreign affairs activities and exhibition translation/interpretation work, such as China International Investment and Trade Fair", China Cross-strait Project Fair, Cross-strait Economic and Trade Fair, Xiamen Trade Fair, Xiamen International Stone Fair, Xiamen International Marathon, Western Taiwan Strait Automobile Fair, Cross-strait Cultural Expo, Cross-strait Cultural Expo, Tea Fair, Jimei Arles International Photography Season, etc.. It has been commended by relevant departments for many times. There are abundant activities in the second class, such as English Corner, Footmark, "Wang Shuijiu-sponsored" English Stage Play Competition. Students are actively organized to participate in high-level competitions such as FLTRP English Series, Business English Skills Contest, Han-Suyin Translation Contest and National Interpretation Contest.

Training Objectives: Students are planned to be cultivated for the applied and compound translation professionals with innovative spirit, practical ability and moral integrity to meet the needs of the socialist market and the economic development of the Western Taiwan Strait Sea. Graduates should have a solid English basic skill, rich knowledge and high quality of cross-cultural communication, strong ability of logical thinking and good professional ethics, understand social culture at home and abroad, be familiar with translation theory, master the translation skills, be able to skillfully use translation tools, and have a good command of translation and exhibition and e-commerce processes. Besides, they shall have strong independent thinking ability, working ability and communication and coordination ability. Graduates can be competent in translation of various practical texts, consecutive interpretation of ordinary difficulty, other business translation, legal translation and foreign communication, and can also engage in business-related work or further study.
