Specialty Features: The Japanese Language major focuses on cultivating students' practical ability of Japanese language and literature, and has set up training bases in many Japanese or Chinese enterprises outside the campus to develop students' practical ability of Japanese language. At the same time, there are abundant second class activities, such as Japanese corner, Japanese culture practice, Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese dance and other language practical activities. Students are actively organized to participate in the National Japanese Speech Contest, Japanese Translation Contest, Japanese Composition Contest, etc., and won good rankings for many times. We regularly organize students to participate in volunteer activities at international trade exhibitions. According to the incomplete statistics, more than half of the students have participated in international activities such as China International Fair for Investment and Trade, Xiamen International Stone Exhibition, Xiamen International Marathon, Western Taiwan Strait Automobile Fair, Cross-strait Cultural Expo, Tea Fair and so on by taking advantage of their Japanese language skills.

This major focuses on developing students' international vision. The study exchange program was started in 2009, and currently it cooperates with Nagasaki University, Niigata Kogyo University, Sapporo Gakuin University and other universities in Japan for public-funded and self-funded study abroad programs. The duration of study in Japan is one-year long, and the number of exchange students is 15 to 20 students per year, accounting for 20-30% of the total number of students. Since 2016, the social practice program for students in Japan has been started. Students in grade 4 can go to Japan for internship with pay for three months. So far, a total of 34 students enrolled in 2013 to 2016 have joined the program. According to statistics, during the four years of university study, the number of students going to Japan for exchange or paid internship is as high as more than 60% of the total number of students.

The graduates of this major are prosperous for further study in universities at home and abroad. In China, there are Beijing Foreign Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Shanghai International Studies University, Foreign Affairs University and other domestic famous universities, while most students studying in Japan are Nagasaki University, University of Tsukuba, Hiroshima University, Tokyo Foreign Studies University and other well-known universities.

Training Objectives: Students are cultivated to have solid basic knowledge of Japanese language, extensive knowledge of Japanese language and literature, master knowledge and skills of practical application of Japanese language and cross-cultural communication ability, and adapt to the needs of social development, and have the character of "honesty and perseverance", innovative spirit, entrepreneurial consciousness and innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity. Graduates of Japanese talents are supposed to engage in translation, management, marketing, service and research in foreign affairs, economy and trade, tourism, education, culture and science and technology.

Courses for Practice: Social Practice (including social investigation, practice, etc.), in-class practice, scientific research and thesis writing (including graduation thesis, academic paper, scientific research practice, etc.).

        Graduate Prospects: The professional personnel training is mainly around the curriculum axis of business Japanese, tourism, education and so on. Graduates are able to adapt to the professional Japanese talents demand in the southeast coastal areas and even the whole country, having a strong competitive advantage in the job market. In the past three years, almost all graduates can find jobs, and the one-time employment rate of graduates is over 96%, while others can further their study in the well-known colleges and universities in China or Japan.
